Happy 2023!

I’ve always been a sucker for a New Year’s Resolution. I don’t always stay true to them, but that’s never stopped me from spending the next December excitedly planning my next one.

My 2023 New Year’s Resolution is 52 books. 52 books in 52 weeks! Then, I’ll write about each one– in the hopes that it will keep me accountable!

I’ve been an avid reader my whole life. While I’ll read any genre, I’ve always gravitated toward tales of epic proportions. Maybe it’s because rent payments and rush hour traffic somewhat confine my existence, but reading about an unlikely hobbit that joins a company of dwarfs to defeat a dragon and reclaim The Lonely Mountain can feel quite intoxicating in comparison.

Subsequently, I’ve always favored fantasy and science fiction works of literature, especially ones with complex and comprehensive universes. I love discovering new worlds to imagine myself living in. I’ll write my own fantasy novel one day – all world-building, no plot, though. Just chapters on chapters of new characters, new magic systems, and new dilemmas that will never be explained. (🤪)

This year I plan to continue to read fantasy books I can fall in love with while keeping a healthy balance of other, and dare I say, new books in different genres. While I never want reading to become a chore for me, I hope reading books I wouldn’t have otherwise tried and writing about them will help expand my perspective.

First up– Tress of the Emerald Sea!
